The two Maine Windjammer Schooners Stephen Taber and Heritage passing each other. Interestingly enough the Taber which was built in 1871 is the oldest U.S. Registered sailing vessel in existence in continous service, meaning she has been a working sailing vessel since she hit the water in 1871 and has been working under sail until the present day. The Heritage, the larger schooner is the newest schooner in the fleet having been launched in 1983. there is one other schooner older than the Taber the Lewis R French which was launched 2 months before, the French however was converted into a motor vessel in 1929 and was out of the water for a couple years being rebuilt, the French sails out of Camden Maine the Taber from Rockland Maine
